Slash helped make Guns N' Roses the most dangerous band in the world, via passive smoke alone, but his playing was extraordinarily soulful. Even the ecstatic solo at the start of Sweet Child O' Mine has a glorious sadness at its heart, as though it's the end of the world and the paper shop's just run out of Marlboro Lights.
